Born to Play

Amalia Diaz is a classically trained harpist with a passion for both classical and popular music. She began studying harp through private lessons with a Russian harpist from the Moscow Conservatory, continuing for several years. She went on to study harp at Irvine Valley College with Professor Linda-Rose Hembreiker, where she also received training in music theory, orchestral performance under conductor Eleanor Nunez, and participated in music performance workshops.

Currently, Amalia performs regularly at Madeline Garden, a high tea bistro and event venue in Pasadena. She has experience playing for weddings, bridal and baby showers, memorials, birthdays, and private events throughout Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and surrounding areas. In addition, she is an active member and Circulation Manager for the American Harp Society, assisting with magazine distribution and archival management.

Amalia has performed at several distinguished events. In October 2023, she performed classical repertoire both solo and as part of a harp trio at the Harp Pedagogy Conference at Cal State LA. More recently, she appeared at the First Baptist Church Pasadena Chapel in January 2025. Her work also includes collaborations and recordings. In 2024, she contributed harp to the song Chained to a Memory by KCA Music, available on Pandora and Spotify. Amalia also performed at an international youth festival gala concert in October 2021 that was broadcast on television. In 2022, she was part of a 20-harp ensemble at the Camac Harp Festival. Amalia was also invited to perform for the film The Double Life of a Billionaire Heiress. Between 2018 and 2020 Amalia was a performer and publisher for PFAC at Crescenta Valley High School, where she helped organize charity concerts benefiting Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She has also enriched her artistry by attending masterclasses with renowned harpists such as Claudia Lamanna, Alexander Boldachev, and Motoshi Kosako.

Beyond the harp, Amalia plays piano, guitar, and accordion. Her musical journey began with piano at age 9 through private study. From 2012 to 2020, she had annual performance examinations in the National Piano Playing Auditions, judged by the American College of Musicians, and performed classical repertoire in yearly recitals at venues including Brand Library, Glendale Library, and Hollywood Pianos. Amalia took summer lessons in guitar and accordion lessons at Rostropovich Voronezh College of Music, Russia, over several years. Music has been Amalia's lifelong dream since she was a little girl, inspiring her every step along the way. It remains the driving force behind her artistry today and the joy she finds in sharing her music with others.
